Children represent the continuation of the family line and their parents’ hopes for the future. Apart from traditional motifs such as the dragon and the phoenix, what other motifs were incorporated into children’s clothing and accessories in the past? How did people then express their expectations and hopes through children’s clothing and accessories? What societal attitudes do the comparison of motifs and materials used in clothing and accessories in the past and present reveal?

Dr Kang Ger-Wen’s talk aims to make art history accessible and enjoyable for all. Join Dr Kang in an engaging session packed with humour and insight as he delves into the meaning and significance of children’s clothing and accessories.

Speaker: Dr. Oliver Kang Ger-Wen (Course Chair, Chinese Studies, Ngee Ann Polytechnic)

Conducted in Mandarin.
