Alice in Wonderland

03 Apr 2018 - 06 Apr 2018

1.45pm and 3.30pm

Gateway Theatre
3615 Jalan Bukit Merah, Singapore 159461

The production uses a combination of musical and magic performance to create a mysterious and magical world. Together with the values emphasised by the Ministry of Education and the unique experiences of local students, the plot is modified to bring it closer to heart.

In this one-hour long performance, using the original plot as a base, the Singapore Focus Theatre created an Alice character who is based in Singapore. Drawing close reference to her life in reality and the world in the magical forest, this production discusses a young girl’s dreams, beliefs and growth.

Synopsis:

With an overwhelming passion for dance, Alice participated in the World Youth Dance Competition and got into the finals. However, her aunt was against it and confiscated the notification letter. Alice dashed out of the room with despair and sprained her ankle. In her desperate state, she went into a magical world. At this moment, she saw a huge talking cat that looked like her small cat; a pair of twin brothers who looked like her pair of dancing shoes; a Mad Hatter who looked like her brother; and the Red and White queen who also looked like her aunt and mother.

What kind of obstacles will Alice have to face along this magical journey? Let us follow Alice in April 2018 along her journey to conquer the magical forest and take charge of our lives.

Students will not only be able to benefit from the values taught in this production, they will also be able to cultivate good learning habits and hone their interest in the Chinese language. Suitable for ages 7-14.
