Inaugurated in 2014, the National Chinese Challenge is jointly organised by Singapore Press Holdings' Chinese Media Group and Nanyang Girls’ High School. The Challenge is co-presented by the National Translation Committee (NTC), Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL) and Promote Mandarin Council (PMC). Our Tampines Hub is the venue partner.
The objectives of the Challenge are to: Catalyse students’ interest in Chinese language learning; Expand their language abilities; Reinforce Chinese as a living language relevant to our culture and society.
The event aims to attract students who have a good grasp of Chinese language and culture to challenge themselves and pit their knowledge against one another for the championship trophy. It has both Primary School and Secondary School categories. An adult segment will also be created this year to broaden the engagement of the event.
For the first time, the Challenge will have its semi-finals and finals held at a public venue - Our Tampines Hub.
